2nd Class Power Engineer
Skills/Experience Requirements:
- Must possess a 2nd class power engineer certificate or obtain one within 6 months of employment
- Minimum 3 years experience as a shift engineer
- Good computer skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
Job Description:
Overview:
The 2nd Class Power Engineer is responsible for operation procedures, quality control and testing, good manufacturing practices (GMP), reporting and safety. They are responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting for the boiler systems including the boilers, air compressors, softeners, air dryer and chemicals.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the safe operation of the plant.
- Track and log all Gas Readings, Water Readings, Hydro Readings, Air compressor readings, all plant steam produced and consumption, gas consumption
- Supply gas forecasts to gas supplier
- Performs water analysis on boilers and cooling towers
- Complete daily, weekly, monthly log report
- Maintain the chemical inventory
- Monitor safety procedures
- Check safety equipment
- Provide vacation coverage for other operators
- Test run the safety and standby equipment weekly
- Check the boilers, air compressors, softeners, air dryer, chemicals
- Team work attitude
- Check chemical inventory, and give requests for the chemicals needed
- Should be a team environment personnel
- Have a good mechanical work attitude
- Maintain the equipment as directed by the chief engineer
